The Curacao licence that expired months ago

7 of the 13 Curacao-licensed operators on this register present their licence as current. The regulator’s own registry, dated 31 August 2026, records each of those licence terms as having already ended, with the status “Assessment in progress”. A second and narrower finding sits inside the first: for 3 of those 7, the authority’s own certificate portal shows the same licence as Active. The two findings are set out separately below and the counts are different.

In short, from the documents

How many Curacao licences on this register have lapsed?

13 of the 24 operators on this register cite a Curacao licence. For 7 of them, the Gaming Authority's own registry records a term that ended before 2 September 2026. 6 carry the registry status Assessment in progress, and 6 have no end date recorded.

How to check this yourself in two minutes

Open the Curacao Gaming Authority’s online gaming licence registry, a single PDF the authority republishes. Search it for the licence number in the operator’s footer. The row gives the licensee, the company number, the term start, the term end and a status. Nothing on this page required access that is not public.

“Assessment in progress” is not an error and not a rare state. It is one of the status values the authority uses across its registry, alongside Active, Indefinite, Expired and Revoked, and it is the status carried by 6 of the 13 Curacao entries on this register. We have not counted the authority’s whole registry, so nothing here claims how common it is across the market. What it means in practice for a player is the part nobody publishes: whether an operator may lawfully continue trading while its file sits in that state is not stated on the registry, and we have not found an authority document that answers it. We record that as unresolved and not guessing at it.

Where the authority’s two artefacts disagree

The Curacao Gaming Authority publishes two things that describe the same licence. One is the consolidated registry PDF above. The other is a per-domain certificate page, which operators embed on their sites as a trust seal a reader can click.

This is a narrower finding than the one above, and it applies to fewer operators. The lapsed term in the table is recorded for 7 operators. A documented conflict between the registry and the certificate portal is recorded for 3, listed below. For the remaining 4 we found a lapsed registry term and no certificate portal artefact to compare it against, so we do not claim one.

For those 3, the certificate page shows the licence as Active and gives one grant date. The registry shows a term that has already ended and a status of Assessment in progress, with a different grant date. Both are published by the same authority. The registry carries a disclaimer that no rights can be derived from it.

This matters more than it looks. A reader doing the responsible thing, clicking the seal in the footer, gets the reassuring answer. A reader who opens the register the authority also publishes gets a different one. An operator embedding the seal is not fabricating anything: the authority really does serve that page. The defect is upstream of every operator here.

Operators whose licence carries no expiry

Not every Curacao entry is in this position. 6 operators on the register hold a licence the authority records with no expiry date, under the status Indefinite or Active. That is the stronger position and it is worth naming as clearly as the weaker one.

What we are not saying

We are not saying these operators are unlicensed, and we are not saying they will not pay you. A lapsed term with an assessment pending is a different thing from a revoked licence. We looked for a published enforcement register from this authority and did not find one, so we cannot say whether any operator above appears on it. That absence is a finding about the authority, not about the operators.

What we are saying is narrower and, we think, more useful: an operator that tells you its licence is current, when the issuing authority’s own register says the term ended in May, June or July, has told you something its regulator does not confirm. You can decide what that is worth. We would rather you decide it with the register open than with the footer seal.

Corrections

If you operate one of these sites and the registry is out of date, send the authority document that supersedes it and we will publish the update with the same prominence as the finding, on the same day, with the change recorded in our change log. Our corrections policy sets out how that works.
