Is Tangem safe? What its own terms say
Is Tangem safe to use for casino deposits?
Tangem's terms disclaim custody and access to your keys, so by their account only you can sign a deposit. Its terms name no gambling rule (tangem.com, read 2026-10-07), which is an absence, not a permission. Contracting party: Tangem AG. 6 points are not verified. 2 primary-source incidents are recorded. Liability: excluded for all loss.

Disclosure: CryptoGuardz has no commercial relationship with Tangem, earns nothing if you install it, and has not contacted the company or given it notice of this entry. Every statement below is either a verbatim quote from a document Tangem publishes or a statement about a public record, and both carry the date they were read. Corrections go to the corrections page.
1. What this means for you
Consequences first, in the conditional, each one produced by a clause in a document Tangem publishes itself. Every line links to that clause, quoted in full and dated. None of them is a claim that Tangem can move your coins on chain: the terms disclaim that power and this register takes them at their word on it.
- Your access to the app can be withdrawn if Tangem decides to withdraw it The termination clause is discretionary and states no grounds you could stay inside. Your keys are still yours; the software you reach them through is not.
- You are contracting with someone you cannot name if you use the swap, the on-ramp or the staking inside the app 5 sub-service clauses are recorded across 3 kinds of service, and most of the counterparties are identified in the terms only as a third party.
- Your on-ramp account can be blocked by a provider Tangem cannot see inside Buying with a card or bank transfer routes through a regulated intermediary that takes identity documents and applies its own compliance decisions.
2. What this entry records, and what it does not
This register publishes no number for a wallet. The payout score on the casino register has five defined components and a published arithmetic; no equivalent instrument exists here. What follows is a field-by-field account of what was read, where and when.
| Binding terms | Read in full10 clauses captured verbatim across 7 topics, retrieved 2026-10-07 |
|---|---|
| Contracting entity | Tangem AGSwitzerland. The terms state Tangem AG is incorporated under Swiss law with registration number CHE-390.112.525, give its address as Baarerstrasse 10, CH-6300 Zug, select Swiss law and give exclusive jurisdiction to the courts of the Canton of Zug. |
| Custody position in the terms | Disclaims custody and disclaims access to key materialAsserted from the terms, which state Tangem does not have access to and does not store private keys or recovery phrases, and that neither Tangem nor its infrastructure receives, transmits, stores or has access to them. The December 2024 incident recorded below shows that, in seed-phrase mode, private keys were written to app logs that users could send to Tangem support; Tangem states those logs were deleted. |
| Sub-services | 5 clauses recordedSwap · Fiat on-ramp · Staking. A count of recorded clauses, not of distinct companies. |
| Code audit | Not measuredNo security audit, source review or reproducible-build check has been carried out or read by this register. A wallet's safety is largely decided there, and nothing on this page speaks to it. |
| First-party test | Not measuredNo transaction has been signed, no swap executed and no recovery flow run through this product by this register. |
| Default node provider | Not disclosedNo RPC or node provider is named in any primary document retrieved. |
3. What we could not verify
Every entry carries this section. The gaps are published because a reader deserves the limits of the check as well as its results.
- Key storage and recovery for the Tangem Mobile Wallet, the software wallet without a card, including whether it offers a cloud backup. The help-centre key-security article excludes it.
- Named swap providers and staking validators. The terms name none; only MoonPay (privacy policy) and Polymarket (terms) are named counterparties.
- The default node or RPC providers the app uses and what they see. Tangem's help centre says Tangem has no servers connected to blockchains, which implies third-party nodes; none is named.
- The card generations and firmware affected by the Ledger Donjon finding. Tangem's post does not specify, and the Donjon report was not read.
- Per-device network support. The chain list comes from a Tangem blog post, not a support matrix.
- Whether the Tangem Pay card product is governed by these terms. Tangem Pay is not mentioned in the Terms of Service retrieved; its tariff document was found but not read.
4. Who you are contracting with
The binding document names a company and states where it is registered or which law governs. The detail and the clause are below.

| Relationships disclosed | The terms refer to Tangem Affiliates without naming them, and name one third-party counterparty: Blockratize Inc., doing business as Polymarket, for the Predictions Service. The privacy policy names MoonPay as an on-ramp and off-ramp partner and Google Analytics and Firebase for analytics. |

5. The custody claim, and what the binding document says
Help-centre statements about the hardware card and ring. The same article says it applies only to Tangem Hardware Wallets and does not describe the Tangem Mobile Wallet, a software wallet with no card.

Hardware wallet. The device holds the keys: for a wallet created without a seed phrase the key is generated by the chip's hardware random number generator and, by Tangem's own help centre, cannot be removed from the card. The binding document is the Terms of Service for the Official Mobile Application, which governs both the device and the app. Where a user activates a wallet with a seed phrase, the help centre states the Tangem application generates the 12 or 24 words, so key material exists outside the chip in that mode.
6. Recovery, and where the terms and the marketing differ
| Cloud or hosted backup offered | no |
|---|---|
| What is stored | Nothing by Tangem, by the terms. Recovery is by linking additional Tangem cards or rings as backup devices, or by a seed phrase where the user chose seed-phrase activation. |
| Where | On the primary card and any linked backup cards, or in the user's own record of the seed phrase. |
| Changes the custody position | no |
Tangem does not store, hold, or provide any backup or recovery of a User's Private Key or Public Keytangem.com
User may, at their own initiative, link additional physical Tangem Wallet devices as backup cardstangem.com
No difference found for the hardware wallet: both say keys stay on the device and Tangem holds no backup. Not compared for the Tangem Mobile Wallet, whose key storage and any cloud backup were not read in this pass.
7. The app is not the wallet
5 clauses, each one a place where the product routes a user to a counterparty the user never contracts with by name, under terms the user never opens. The count is of recorded clauses and not of distinct companies: two entries can name the same counterparty and each still be a separate thing the terms permit.

8. Withdrawing your access to the interface
Your keys are yours. The software you reach them through is licensed, and the licence can be withdrawn. 2 clauses are recorded on this point.
The license will terminate automatically without notice from Tangem if you breach any provision of these Termstangem.com

Section 9.1.7. The discretion applies to third-party services inside the app, not to the device.
9. Who can block an address
Tangem claims no power to block an address in the documents read. No clause in the documents read discloses that another party in the stack can freeze or blacklist an address either. That is an absence of disclosure, not a guarantee that no such party exists.
Polymarket may, in accordance with its own terms and applicable law, restrict, delay, or freeze specific transactions or wallet addressestangem.com
The power sits with Polymarket for the Predictions Service, not with Tangem. Separately, Tangem's privacy help page says Tangem has no servers connected to blockchains and cannot interfere with wallet operations.
10. What the terms say about gambling
Position recorded: not disclosed. No clause naming gambling, betting, casinos or wagering was found in the documents read. That is an absence in the documents, not a permission, and the general prohibition on unlawful use still applies.
The card side of the same question is on the card register, and the casino side on KYC on withdrawal.
11. Chains it names
Of the eight chains this register filters on, Tangem names 8: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, TON, Tron, BNB Chain, Base, Polygon. Not named on the pages read: none. All eight networks the register filters on are named in the supported-blockchains list of a Tangem blog post. The source is Tangem's own blog, not a help-centre support matrix; network support per card generation or per app version was not checked.

13. Public record
Matters of public record, taken from primary sources and stated with them. Both of the records below were disclosed by the provider itself or entered in a public vulnerability register, rather than found in the press.
Tangem disclosed that, when a wallet was activated with a seed phrase, by generating or importing one, the private key was written to the mobile app's logs. Fixed in app version 5.19.1 on the App Store and 5.19.2 on Google Play. Tangem stated fewer than 0.1 percent of users could be affected, that no private keys were compromised and no funds lost, that it deleted all logs and attachments containing the data, and advised affected users to move funds, reset the wallet and reactivate it.
No private keys were compromised, no user funds were lost, and no accounts were accessed.
Tangem's response to research by Ledger Donjon, which in a lab setting bypassed the time delays protecting against incorrect access-code attempts on a Tangem card. Tangem describes the risk as hypothetical and not exploitable in practice, and states it will not change its policy. No loss of funds is reported.
In a controlled lab setting, Donjon's researchers used specialized equipment to bypass the standard time delays that protect against incorrect access code attempts.
14. Who should avoid Tangem
Anyone who needs a named party to be answerable for a loss. The liability position is excludes liability for all loss, and the terms disclaim responsibility for every third-party service the app routes you into.
