Independent Reserve review: licences, terms and gambling clause
Can you deposit to a casino from Independent Reserve?
Independent Reserve's terms restrict gambling without banning it outright, in Terms and Conditions, clause 5.1.1(11)(c); a deposit to a casino not licensed where you live can breach them. Its terms let it freeze or suspend an account. 1 registration is confirmed in an issuing register. 9 points are not verified. No primary-source incident is recorded.

Disclosure: CryptoGuardz has no commercial relationship with Independent Reserve, earns nothing if you open an account there, and has not contacted the company or given it notice of this entry. Every statement below is either a verbatim quote from a document Independent Reserve publishes or a statement about a public register, and both carry the date they were read. Corrections go to the corrections page.
1. What this means for you
Consequences first, in the conditional, each one produced by a clause in a document Independent Reserve publishes itself. Every line links to that clause, quoted in full and dated.
- Your account can be suspended or closed for any reason Independent Reserve gives The freeze clause itself requires notice, but a separate ground lets the exchange suspend or terminate an account for any reason. Both are quoted below.
- Your withdrawal can be suspended if Independent Reserve decides an incident on the platform requires it The withdrawal clause sets no maximum duration and no external test for when an incident is resolved.
- You are probably not covered by the authorisation you can see if you are outside the European Economic Area The confirmed authorisation is held by the European entity named on it, and the entity that contracts with a user elsewhere is a different company.
- You may breach the terms if the casino you fund is unlicensed where you live Independent Reserve's clause covers unlawful, unregulated or illegal gambling rather than gambling as such. It is quoted in section 10.
2. What this entry records, and what it does not
This register publishes no number for an exchange. The payout score on the casino register has five defined components and a published arithmetic; no equivalent instrument exists here, and inventing one to fill the space would be a measurement nobody made. What follows instead is a field-by-field account of what was read, where it was read and when.

3. What we could not verify
Every entry carries this section. The gaps are published because a reader deserves the limits of the check as well as its results.
- The AUSTRAC registration DCE-100461150-001. The AUSTRAC register requires a login and the AUSTRAC guidance page is disallowed by robots.txt.
- The licence number PS20200517 in the MAS directory. The directory confirms the entity and licence type but did not display a number.
- Any New Zealand Financial Service Providers Register entry. Not searched.
- The identity of the Custody Provider. Not named in the terms or on the about page.
- The Unallocated Deposits policy referred to in clause 16.1.2. Not read.
- The Singapore terms that bind Independent Reserve SG Pte. Ltd. customers. Not read.
- Any proof of reserves. Independent Reserve states a 1:1 reserve but no attestation was found.
- The networks Independent Reserve supports for USDT withdrawals. No network list was read.
- Incidents. No regulator action, court filing or company post-mortem concerning Independent Reserve was retrieved. That is not a finding that none exists.
4. Who you are contracting with
The counterparty named in the binding document, not the brand on the website. This is the company a claim would be brought against and whose insolvency estate a user would be a creditor of.

The document read is the Independent Reserve Terms and Conditions at independentreserve.com/help/terms-and-conditions, "Last updated: 8 October 2026". The definitions state that "we, us or our" means Independent Reserve Pty. Ltd., ABN 46 164 257 069. The Australian Business Register, read 9 October 2026, carries INDEPENDENT RESERVE PTY LIMITED, ABN 46 164 257 069, active from 13 June 2013, Australian Private Company, ACN 164 257 069, NSW 2060, with registered business names including bitcoin.com.au, Buy Bitcoin AU, buyabitcoin.com.au, Coin Loft and IR WEALTH.

5. Registrations, claimed and confirmed
1 of the registrations Independent Reserve claims was found in the issuing authority's own public register. A confirmed registration covers the entity named on it and nothing else. The one confirmed licence is held by the Singapore company. The Australian company's AUSTRAC registration could not be read, and clause 7.15 of the Australian terms states: "We are not required and do not hold an Australian Financial Services Licence".
| Authority | Kind | Confirmed | What it covers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), Major Payment Institution licence under the Payment Services Act 2019 | authorisation | yes | Confirmed. The MAS Financial Institutions Directory, read 9 October 2026, carries INDEPENDENT RESERVE SG PTE. LTD., 30 Cecil Street #23-01 Prudential Towers, as a "Major Payment Institution" with the services "Account Issuance Service", "Domestic Money Transfer Service", "Cross-border Money Transfer Service" and "Digital Payment Token Service". The directory page did not show the licence number; PS20200517 is from Independent Reserve's Singapore about page. It covers Independent Reserve SG Pte. Ltd. only, not the Australian company that contracts with Australian users. |
| Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC) digital currency exchange register | authorisation | no | Claimed on the Independent Reserve about page: "registered as a Digital Currency Exchange (DCE) with AUSTRAC", registration number "DCE-100461150-001". A digital currency exchange registration is an anti-money-laundering registration, not a licence to operate an exchange, and carries no prudential, custody or client-money requirement. Not confirmed: the AUSTRAC public register redirected to a login page, and the AUSTRAC guidance page on checking registration is disallowed by robots.txt. |
| European Securities and Markets Authority (MiCA register of non-compliant entities) | adverse listing | not listed | Negative check. The official ESMA register of non-compliant entities providing crypto-asset services was retrieved on 9 October 2026 (173 data rows, ending with a complete row) and searched. The string Independent Reserve does not appear in it. |
6. Proof of reserves
No Independent Reserve-hosted proof of reserves page could be loaded. The about page states "We maintain a full 1:1 reserve of all client fiat and crypto assets." and that external auditors audit the financial statements annually, naming no auditor. The knowledge-base page "Is Independent Reserve safe?" (17 September 2025) repeats the 1:1 claim and references no attestation or verification method. A reserve claim with no published attestation is recorded as no data, not as a published proof of reserves.
Nothing is recorded here as a result. The field is No data rather than no, because a page that would not load is not the same as a disclosure that does not exist, and this register does not publish the two as though they were.
7. Custody, segregation and insolvency
What the binding document says about where your coins sit and what happens to them if the exchange fails, quoted rather than characterised.
Subject to clauses 8 and 21, we agree to: (a) hold your Cryptocurrency on trust through: (i) our own technical infrastructure; and/or (ii) our Custody Provider(s);independentreserve.com
We do not hold any fiat deposited by you on trust, other than in accordance with our Unallocated Deposits policy.independentreserve.com
8. Freezing your account
2 clauses, quoted in the order they appear in the document. Read the last one first: it is the ground that swallows the others.
Additionally, we may, at our complete discretion, suspend, restrict, limit or terminate your Account for any reason, including without limitation, where:independentreserve.com
in our sole discretion terminate your access to the Platform, Services and Accountindependentreserve.com
9. Suspending withdrawals
all withdrawals of fiat currency and Cryptocurrency will remain restricted on your Accountindependentreserve.com
10. Sending funds to a casino from Independent Reserve
Independent Reserve's terms restrict gambling only where it is unlawful, unregulated or illegal. Whether a deposit to a given casino breaches them depends on that casino's licence and on where you are.
not use the service to engage in any criminal or restricted activities, including (but not limited) to: [...] illegal gambling;independentreserve.com
there are attempts to use the Platform, Service or Account to perform any illegal activities such as: [...] illegal gambling operations;independentreserve.com
The quote joins the lead-in of clause 5.1.1(11) to its list item "illegal gambling;". The consequence quote is clause 11.3.3(b), one of the listed grounds under clause 11.3 on which Independent Reserve may suspend, restrict, limit or terminate an account. Both clauses are limited to illegal gambling. Neither names casinos or says whether withdrawals to a gambling platform are blocked.
11. Which networks Independent Reserve withdraws USDT on
No dataThe network list could not be confirmed. See the note below.
No Independent Reserve page listing USDT withdrawal networks was read for this entry. No chain is counted. Source. Which DEXes operate on each of those chains is in the DEX register.
12. Amendment, liquidation, arbitration and governing law
The clauses that decide what the contract can become, what can be done to an open position, and where a dispute would be heard.
We reserve the right to change, amend, modify, add or delete any of these Terms and Conditionsindependentreserve.com
13. Public record
No incident is recorded for Independent Reserve. That is not a clean bill of health. It means no primary source, meaning a regulator action, a court filing or a company post-mortem, was retrieved within this collection. Absence of a record here is the absence of a search result.
14. Who should avoid Independent Reserve
Anyone outside the European Economic Area who is relying on the authorisation they can see. The confirmed authorisation is held by the European entity named on it and covers that company's clients. A user elsewhere is contracting with a different entity under different terms.
